Tami: "Doc and I have been working together musically for several years. He heard the arrangement Bob and I had for Lucky Man and thought the song should be recorded. Bob was enthusiastic to back the project, so we booked a session at A&M studio C. Doc gathered these players together primarily from his straight-ahead jazz band. I was thrilled to have Bill Brendle play piano on this session, as he is the current musical director and arranger for Sergio Mendez. Joe Correro performed and recorded with Al Jarreau for several years and is also featured on the classic Joao Gilberto album. Greg Eicher played with Dizzy Gillespie, Mose Allison, and is currently recording with Cybill Shepherd. Doc Doolittle has spent most of his career accompanying singers of many different styles such as Jackie Wilson and Natalie Cole. In a musical and artistic sense, these players are true PHD's. I was in good hands. We all recorded live, and it was surprisingly easy, like cutting butter. It all went very smooth. I was honored to have Richard Cottrell at the helm, as he has engineered for Joni Mitchell, Warren Zevon, and Tom Scott. He was mellow, a top-notch professional and very supportive. We all worked as a team, and we're proud of the results."
"With her warm and beautiful singing voice and very personal way of delivery when performing," says Doc Doolittle, "I think that Tami Michelle has what it takes to be a major force in the music world.
"It is my belief that Tami Michelle is a unique American treasure," Doc says. "She has dedicated her life to composing songs with beautiful melodies and compelling lyrics which portray the human experience vividly. Tami has written enough of these wonderful songs to fill at least three CD's and is currently writing more."
